Chanterelle Llama Farm is situated on 50 acres located in Stokesdale, North Carolina. Surrounded by woods with lots of wildlife and several different mushrooms, one being "The Chanterelle" and that my friend is how we came to name our farm.
We are a small farm and purchased our first two llamas in September 2021, Pandemic and Meketaten. The next two years we built our herd to a total of 9, one being our handsome herd sire. The love we have for these unique animals is like no other. We are always happy to share the experience called "Llama Love".
Our story is like is unique, we met back in 2009 on eHarmony. Ray grew up in Buffalo,NY, and got to spend every weekend on his grandparents' farm. After 27 years he retired as a Lieutenant from the Department of Corrections.
Phyllis on the other hand grew up in the suburbs of Lancaster, PA. After 24 years of making custom cabinets, retired in 2010.
In October 2011 we got married and moved to North Carolina in 2012. In July 2016 we purchased 50 acres in Stokesdale, NC. Over the next 5 years, our vision for Chanterelle farm was so clear to us. We built our barn from the trees on the farm and Ray had a desire to fill it with animals. After much research, we decided to visit a llama farm to get more information about these exotic beautiful animals and that was all we needed for the "addiction" to begin. Our llamas are not just animals to us they are family and they consider us as part of their herd.
